Highlighted here is the course of study for Strozzi Institute’s Somatic Coach certification. All requirements are listed for Somatic Coach certification and for Master Somatic Coach certification.
Somatic Coach (SC) Certification:
Leadership in Action
For those in the Somatic Coach certification program, this is a foundational requirement to learn the theory and practices of Strozzi Institute’s methodology for coaching. Most of the practices presented will be practices you will be learning to offer your clients. At the same time, you will be in the practices yourself as a way to learn and reshape yourself.
As part of your Somatic Coach education, we have a half-day pre-course meeting prior to Leadership in Action Session 2 for those in the Strozzi Institute Somatic Coach program. We will explore the SI somatic model for transformation and orient you to be both a participant for yourself in the course while also learning the SI methodology.
Prerequisite: None - all welcome
The Art of Somatic Coaching
A three-conference session over three months where you will focus on the practices and skill of somatic coaching, as well as your own personal development as a coach and leader.
Prerequisite: Leadership in Action
Strozzi Bodywork Seminar
Not just for bodyworkers, this course is for anyone that works with people: coaches, consultants, therapists, managers and directors. You will gain an understanding of the depth and complexity of Strozzi Institute's somatic work, and learn to effectively see and assess the "self" in a person's body shape. You will learn hands-on bodywork techniques and develop a powerful presence in all relationships.
Prerequisite: None (Leadership in Action is recommended)
Somatic Coaching
We require everyone in the certification program to receive six hours of somatic coaching from a Strozzi Institute certified coach. It is best if a minimum of three of the sessions contain the hands-on Strozzi Bodywork.
Master Somatic Coach (MSC) certification:
Leadership in Action
For MSC certification, participants attend both sessions of Leadership in Action again. Depending on the educational requirements of the individual, participants may be on the coaching staff for the course, or will be participating as a student. If either role, the participant will attend the pre-course staff meeting, plus all course staff meetings and debriefs. This is an opportunity to gain insights to how the course teachers assess participants somatically, look for and help produce somatic openings, and how assigned somatic practices relate to assessments and openings.

Strozzi Bodywork Seminar
A second look and deeper plunge into the practices of presence and listening, empathy and boundaries, hands-on touch as a practitioner; and, to continue to hone the skill to see and assess the "self" in a person's body shape.
Prerequisite: None (Leadership in Action is recommended)
Advanced Strozzi Bodywork Seminar
Not a requirement for Master Somatic Coach. This seminar is for those who are using the hands on bodywork approach to Strozzi Somatics™. You will learn advanced technique and continue to increase your presence and empathic connection to your clients.
Prerequisite: Two Strozzi Bodywork Seminars
School Of Embodied Leadership
This is a five-and-a-half day intensive training for individuals to develop the mental, emotional, and physical fitness that optimizes and enhances one’s ability to face life’s challenges. This training will continue to offer the practices of a dynamic and magnetic presence to assist your ability to be seen as a more valued offer to your clients. Separate, life-altering sessions for men and women.
Prerequisite: None (Leadership in Action recommended)
Project
We require a project from each Master Somatic Coach Certification program participant. The project is taken on after the course work is complete. The purpose of the project is for people to demonstrate how Strozzi Somatics™ will be integrated into an individual’s practice. Many people will produce a white paper on this topic. We ask that it is thorough and complete, up to 10-15 pages. Others will produce a live event as a project and submit a summary report to us. Other options are things such as a video presentation, or a workbook or curriculum for a training. We are open to innovation.
Orals
The final requirement for MSC is to participate in an oral examination. In a relaxed atmosphere, we will ask you questions and give you hypothetical situations to see what you would do. This can be done either in person or by phone and takes place at least 3 weeks after handing in your project.
