LEADERSHIP IN ACTION

In Leadership in Action, you will identify and clarify your commitment to your future and learn the leadership skills necessary for effectively achieving your vision and goals.

  • What new declaration are you committing to in your life?
  • Are you satisfied with how you are moving forward with your commitments?
  • What are the courageous conversations that need happen in your life?
  • Are you “showing up” in a way that produces the results you want?

LEADERSHIP IN ACTION 1 – PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES
What you learn will proceed along several parallel tracks:

You will learn your leadership style, strengths, and limitations while practicing and developing a leadership presence. Practicing centered presence will give you the ability to act and respond effectively and appropriately in the widest variety of situations. When events and situations become stressful, your presence and ability to be relaxed and focused will enable you to act in a more decisive and grounded way.

Declaring and committing to a future is a learned skill. We will take you through the process of embodying your vision and future goals. You will learn practices to keep yourself in action and to collaborate with others to achieve your goals.

The ability to give and receive powerful grounded assessments is a leadership skill. You will learn to deliver and receive assessments to further your goals and ambitions and to further the goals and ambitions of your family, friends, peers, and the team members in your professional work.

To effectively coordinate with others it is necessary to listen to what is important to others and what they care about. One of the skills you will learn in this course is to blend with the needs and concerns of others and at the same time not lose what is important to you.

There are times in life when you are asked to take a stand for what you care about. Taking a stand is a skill. It comes into play when your values are challenged and this can be internal or external. Our ability to take a stand is essential for us to achieve our goals.

In this course you will begin to embody the leadership virtues of authenticity, integrity, accountability, confidence, and a centered presence.

LEADERSHIP IN ACTION 2 – EMBODYING NEW LEADERSHIP SKILLS
Leadership in Action 2 deepens the level of embodiment of the leadership skills and distinctions learned in Leadership in Action 1, and brings in new practices. It is commonsense thinking that once you have done something, it is on to the next thing. It is our experience that learning happens through recurrent practice over time related to our goals and plans for the future.

You will continue to deepen the practices of declaring a future, grounding assessments, and building on your leadership style and presence. In addition, you will add the skill of managing capacity and coordinating with others through making effective requests and declines, and the skills of insisting and quitting. We will explore and learn how we are driven by our history when under pressure and how to shift our unwanted automatic responses.

You will learn the skill of observing and taking into account the whole person, enabling you to coordinate with others successfully to produce powerful results. You will practice taking a stand for what is important to you and for the fulfillment of your goals.

Leadership in Action will affect broad areas of your life, both professionally and personally. For sustainable change in your life, either for building new skills and capacities or moving through a personal impasse, this course is for you. Our work goes beyond insight and understanding. You will embody new skills and behaviors. We will join you in focusing on the challenges you face and the changes you want to make in your life.
