The requirements of leadership change with the times. Many of the leadership skills of the last decade are outdated for the challenges of today. Through our leadership course of study we assist leaders in meeting today’s challenges. Participants learn the pragmatic skills of effective action and the fundamental skills of human interaction. It is in this balance that true leadership resides. When developing competency and mastery in human interaction, one must attend to the self. Through cultivating the self we build our strengths and manage limitations, and produce satisfaction. Through effective action, we produce results that drive the business. We see that it is the integration of these domains that distinguishes good leaders from great leaders. At SI we work with the full range of capacity and possibility of leadership. Engagement is motivated by autonomy, mastery, and purpose, not by rewards. The development of these qualities is begun through an awareness of current competencies and then developed through recurrent practice. This is the promise of our Leadership Mastery course of study. When a leader’s behavior is congruent with their words, they embody an engaging presence. With integrity and skill, rather than technique, people are galvanized and inspired into action. The development and practice of this congruence is SI’s somatic methodology.
The pragmatic skills that SI trains include making effective request, the skill of commitment and promises, making offers, skillful assessments, declaring action and possibilities and fulfilling on them, being accountable and assisting others in their accountability, managing teams, and skillful and efficient meetings.
The skills of human interaction include building and maintaining relationships, building confidence and self-assurance, skillful transitions, calmness in chaos, responding rather than reacting, skillful team participation, effective decision making, and resilience.
